What strange times we are living in. There is a lot of information circling about the Covid-19 virus and the anticipated implications for all of us. I won’t add to it. I just wanted to let you know what’s happening in my world.
It is with some sadness and slight nervousness that I inform you that I am experiencing symptoms and have been instructed to self-isolate for at least 14 days. Due to my history of pneumonia and other respiratory issues, I have been placed in the high risk category, so under the advice of my medical team, I have made the difficult decision to pull out of all live performance and workshops for the next 3-6 months and cancel upcoming travel plans.
These are dark times and I am scared but mostly I am mindful that in such times we must remember our humanity above all else. Please treat each other with kindness and compassion.
I look forward to seeing you when we have come through this.
Below is a photo I took in a red tipi when playing at Seven Sisters Festival a few years ago. Through meditation, I’m sitting in that tipi now, healing, singing.
This is obviously a difficult time for many workers, including artists. If you would like to show support for people in the Australian music industry during this period, please visit The Sound of Silence to see how you can help.
If you are a musician in need of emotional support during this time, please reach out to Support Act.
If you are experiencing increased anxiety during this period, please contact Lifeline or Beyond Blue or a local helpline in your area.
And please, if you can, stay home.
Take care all,
