Today we are mourning the loss of prolific Irish poet, novelist and playwright, Dermot Healy. A personal message from Aminah:
“I was fortunate enough to meet Dermot on a few occasions in my travels in Ireland, once as a student in one of his writing workshops. He edited my long poem, ‘The First Moon’ and gave me a ride in his bumpy but sturdy car. On the long and winding road from Leitrim he gave me advice about writing and offered to proof-read my novel, a manuscript on which I am still working. He was generous with his wisdom and his time and signed a book of his poetry for my mother. Rest in peace, Dermot. Go mbéadh do h-anam uasal faoi síochána.”
