Started a song you’re unsure how to finish? Lyrics you’re not entirely happy with? An idea that you just can’t express in the way that you’d like?
After running songwriting workshops and circles around Australia and in England, Aminah brings her 6 Week Songwriting Circle back to Perth in the creative confines of Earthwise in Subiaco.
Aminah founded SongCraft in 2006, after she discovered that so many of today’s songwriting workshops focus on surviving in the industry as an independent artist, rather than stripping it back to the base craft of how to write a powerful and memorable song. Through SongCraft she teaches people how to engage an audience with a song that will stay in the minds of listeners forever, no matter the genre.
“Aminah is an excellent listener, a thoughtful artist and a brilliant song architect. She took one of my songs that had potential and helped me turn it into a fan favorite that is a staple of every set. After I took on her suggestions, the audience reaction was palpable. I would trust her feedback to the moon and back.”
– Suzanne Yada, Singer-Songwriter @ Little Spiral, California
Participants will learn the juiciest aspects of writing, from autobiographical to political, poetry to balladry, utilising the art of storytelling in a contemporary structure, and will be supported to write one song per week (or more)! Teaching is lyrics based, so while instruments are welcome, they are not a requirement. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to write! Beginners, poets and songwriters welcome.
Sessions will run on Saturday afternoons from 12-2pm, from Aug 5 – Sept 16, with a break on 26th August.
Bookings are essential as space is limited. Early bird price closes Saturday 22nd July.
